Help! Has anyone ever come across a phantom pregnancy before? For a little while I was wondering if I might be pregnant, I put on a little weight for no reason, my periods stopped and I was just really emotional! I did a couple of tests and they were all negative. I then found out  my sister was pregnant and she talked about a 'phanton pregnancy'. I had never heard of this before and don't really understand it so really desperate to find or hear of anyone else who has been through it!! Whilst it is nice to be experiencing some of what my sister is going through I can't help feeling a bit like a freak! Thanks looking forward to hearing from someone! :)

Phantom pregnancy? That sounds freaky to be honest. I've just gone through an abortion, and believe me when i was pregnant i knew it allright.
Why don't you visit a gynecologist? If your periods have stoped then you might want to visit a gynecologist, and who knows, you might discover you're pregnant! ;)

I was pregnant not that long ago too and I knew at 2 weeks I was pregnant! Some people are so oblivious to it but I really can't see how. Sometimes tests give false negatives so you should go to your GP for a test there. I have heard of phantom pregnancies but know nothing about them ...

well it is confimed by a GP test that I am not pregnant and I repeated the test the day after seeing my doctor. I am really starting to feel nausea quite frequently...just like my sister. I would really love to be pregnant and I can't say I am truely convinced still that I am not.

Ok, but what did your GP say about the symptoms you are getting? Surely that was addressed??

All my GP said is that women's bodies are closely connected, and there can be similar hormonal cycles between sisters but said that he doubted it was a phantom pregnancy and that this only usually really happens in animals such as dogs!! :(

There used to be this girl in my sixth form group who always thought she was pregnant! I told my mum and she said that she probably just did it for attention. If you just accept your not pregnant you wont feel like you are!

All in the head  :)

It is definitely a phsycological thing, whether its humans or dogs it did make me laugh that your GP said it only really happens to dogs!!   I think I would have been quite offended by that.

Are you really desperate to have a child then? Are you jealous of your sister?

I wasn't jealous of my sister at first. But we've always been very close and she's not much older than me so I thought we'd always have kids around the same time.

Me and my partner aren't ready for kids but I just feel really desperate for one now, and really pregnant! Thankfully most of the symptoms are starting to subside, like the sickness. But I still feel really hormonal  :(

How far along in the pregnancy is your sister? Maybe you'll feel ok once the baby is born!

Yes, maybe once the baby starts crying and your sister is tired all the time from being woken up in the night you wont feel such a strong desire for having one :D

She's due in March so just over half way! I can't wait though. Maybe I'll feel differently then. We'll see!
